- What is SafePlus?
- A Safeplus assessment is a health and safety improvement assessment with a people focus.
- This is not a standard assessment that looks solely at documentation. What it does analyse is the cultures, behaviours, attitudes and perceptions of how work is being done, versus how it is planned to be done from the very top leadership right through to worker level and analyses three critical risks within your organisation. It models what good looks like, beyond legal compliance.
- It was developed jointly by Worksafe, ACC and MBIE but is completed by independent accredited assessors. We work for you and provide you with a confidential report of findings and tailored recommendations to use to make improvements to not only your H&S practices, but across your worker engagement and overall H&S culture.
- How does the assessment work?
- We meet with the leadership team initially, to discuss the assessment and decide on the focus risk areas.
- The assessment itself is made up of interviews with a selection of workers across the business at different levels (management and workers). We follow a holistic approach in our interviews to gain a thorough understanding of the behaviours and attitudes of how work is done. We then observe work practices around the focus risk areas.
- We assess our findings against the SafePlus criteria which covers three key elements (Leadership, Worker Engagement and Risk Management) and look closely at the three focus risks. We analyse the data gathered and provide you with a Health and Safety Maturity Score.
- You will receive a comprehensive report of findings of your strength and improvements areas along with tailored recommendations and guidance to start your improvement journey.
